Maintenance and Use
– Sterilization of BIBS pacifiers is done only once, before the first use:
– Place the pacifiers in a clean bowl. Pour boiling water over them.
– Let them sit in the water for 5 minutes.
– Take them out and let them air‑dry on a clean towel.
– For babies older than 3 months, sterilization can be done by placing the pacifiers in a strainer and steaming them over boiling water. This method prevents water from entering through the pacifier’s valve and is much faster.
– Regular cleaning of pacifiers is the most important step in maintaining proper hygiene.
The younger the baby, the more attention you need to pay to neutralizing bacteria on the pacifier’s surface. A newborn’s immune system is still developing, so it’s harder for them to fight off the large number of bacteria that surround us daily.
Therefore, pacifiers for babies up to 3 months old must be cleaned more frequently than those for older children:
– 0–3 months: Clean the pacifier every time it falls on the floor. In general, pacifiers should be steamed at least once a day.
– 3+ months: Rinse the pacifier once a day under cold running water if it has fallen on the floor.
Warning
They are not designed for boiling, and high temperatures can easily damage them. Instead, follow the instructions above to ensure all bacteria are neutralized without physically damaging the pacifiers.
