Maintenance and Use:
– BIBS pacifiers should be sterilized only once, before the first use.
– Place the pacifiers in a clean bowl. Pour boiling water over them.
– Let them sit in the water for 5 minutes.
– Remove them from the water and let them air‑dry on a clean towel.
– For babies older than 3 months, sterilization can be done by placing the pacifiers in a strainer and steaming them over boiling water. This method prevents water from entering through the pacifier’s vent and is much faster.
– Regular cleaning of pacifiers is the most important step in maintaining their hygiene. The younger the baby, the more attention must be paid to neutralizing bacteria on the surface. A newborn’s immune system is not yet fully developed, making it harder for them to fight off the large number of bacteria that surround us daily. Therefore, pacifiers for babies up to 3 months old must be cleaned more frequently than those for older children:
– 0–3 months: Pacifiers must be cleaned every time they fall on the floor. In general, they should be steamed at least once a day.
– 3+ months: Rinse the pacifier once a day under cold running water, if it has fallen on the floor.
Warning: Pacifiers are not designed for boiling and can be easily damaged by high‑temperature water. Instead, follow the instructions above to ensure all bacteria are neutralized without causing physical damage to the pacifiers.
